How the count works
Days sober are the whole days since the date of your last drink. If your last drink was on 1 September, then on 24 September you are 23 days sober.
Add the time of your last drink and the calculator counts the exact days, hours and minutes instead, and the big number becomes your completed days.
What happens after a slip?
This calculator counts from your most recent last drink, like most counters do. The Sober Counter app works differently: it keeps a second number, days won, which counts every alcohol-free day since you started and never goes back to zero. A slip is a day, not a reset.
Struggling to sleep since you stopped?
You are far from alone. Read why sleep gets worse after quitting alcohol and how long it lasts, with the research behind it.
Questions
How do I work out how many days sober I am?
Count the days from the date of your last drink to today. The calculator above does it for you and keeps counting each time you open the page.
Does this calculator save my date?
Only in the page's own link and in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere. Bookmark the page and it opens with your count.
Is 24 hours without a drink one day sober?
Yes. With a time added, the calculator counts a day each time a full 24 hours passes since your last drink.
Want this on your phone?
Sober Counter counts your days, shows what your body is healing, and helps the moment a craving hits. It never resets you to zero after a slip. Coming soon to iPhone.
